 The Lagos State Government has rescheduled the temporary closure of the PWD Rail Crossing, moving the date from Wednesday, May 1 to Wednesday, May 14, to provide adequate time for residents and motorists to adjust their movements ahead of the planned diversion.

In a statement released on Sunday, Mrs. Bolanle Ogunlola, the Deputy Director of Public Affairs at the Ministry of Transportation, explained that the postponement was made to minimise inconvenience and ensure smoother traffic management during the ongoing rail infrastructure upgrade.

“We understand the impact that such closures can have and are committed to reducing inconvenience to road users as much as possible,” Ogunlola said. She further assured the public that the state would continue to maintain effective communication and prioritise safety throughout the railway modernisation project.

Ogunlola also confirmed that all previously announced alternative routes would remain in place, and relevant traffic signage along with enforcement officers would be deployed to manage traffic flow around the affected area.

The closure, part of extensive maintenance and safety enhancement work on the state’s rail infrastructure, is aimed at supporting long-term improvements to the multimodal transport network.

Residents and motorists have been advised to plan their routes in advance and stay informed by following traffic advisories issued by the Ministry of Transportation through official channels.

The government has also called for public cooperation and patience during the temporary disruption, underlining that the rail upgrade is vital for ensuring safer and more efficient transport operations in the state.
