Oyo Government Launches Mandatory Revalidation for Outdoor Advertisers

The Oyo State Government has commenced a mandatory revalidation exercise for all third-party outdoor advertising practitioners across the state, as part of its efforts to regulate and streamline the signage and advertising sector.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Oyo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OYSAA), aims to create a comprehensive and digitalised database of all signages and billboards under its jurisdiction. The Director-General of OYSAA, Hon. Oludolapo Esho Ajanaku, disclosed this during the agency’s two-week revalidation program in Ibadan.

Speaking on the exercise, Hon. Ajanaku stated that the revalidation is essential to enhance regulatory oversight, promote transparency, and boost the agency’s service delivery. “This process is a strategic move to build a verifiable digital platform that captures all outdoor advertising structures across the state,” he said.

The revalidation exercise requires all registered advertising practitioners to physically visit the OYSAA office at the State Secretariat in Ibadan to update their company credentials. This includes confirming location approvals and tagging all billboards currently under agency management.

“This exercise is mandatory with no exceptions. Failure to comply within the stipulated timeframe will lead to immediate deregistration of billboard structures and their removal by the agency,” Ajanaku warned.

He praised Governor Seyi Makinde for fostering a business-friendly environment in Oyo State and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to ensuring a professionally regulated advertising landscape.

Ajanaku also urged all practitioners to comply fully with the terms and conditions of the revalidation process, describing it as a crucial step toward modernising the state's advertising ecosystem.
