Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has reaffirmed that members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) remain fully supportive of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, despite ongoing criticisms from opposition parties.

Uzodimma, who is also the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), made the remarks during a media briefing following a closed-door meeting with APC governors and federal ministers held in Abuja on Wednesday.

He noted that while dissenting voices were particularly loud at the outset of the Tinubu administration, the impact of the government’s reform efforts is now drawing positive recognition.

“At the start of this administration, opposition criticism was widespread, especially concerning the government’s reform agenda. But as time has passed, President Tinubu’s approach is being validated,” Uzodimma said.

He cited commendations from global financial institutions such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), who have acknowledged the courage and direction of the President’s economic and governance strategies.

Discussing the political alignment of those present at the meeting, Uzodimma emphasised that the APC remains united, with all attendees being committed party members.

“This administration is a product of the APC, supported by governors, ministers, and party officials. Everyone in this room is aligned under the party banner, regardless of their roles,” he stated.

He said the gathering was also an opportunity to reflect on current developments and explore ways to offer stronger backing to both party members and citizens who continue to support the administration’s vision.

“This meeting is part of our responsibility to ensure we support a leader who has shown unwavering commitment to the progress of our nation,” he added.

As President Tinubu’s second anniversary in office approaches, Uzodimma revealed that the APC National Working Committee would soon unveil a full schedule of commemorative events, offering a chance to celebrate accomplishments and consider the way forward.

Joining the conversation, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, described the session as an internal party affair.

“This was a strategic family meeting involving APC governors, ministers, and members of the National Working Committee,” Idris said.

He explained that the gathering served to review the administration’s performance at the halfway mark of its tenure.

“We are satisfied with the progress made so far. There is a great deal we can point to with pride,” he said.

The minister noted that efforts would be stepped up to increase public awareness about the government’s achievements as the administration reaches its midterm.

He also said the APC would prioritise gathering public feedback to help fine-tune future governance efforts.

“This party is a large and diverse organisation. Meetings like this are essential for assessing our direction and preparing for the road ahead.

“Despite the hurdles, we believe we are on course, and with continued determination and divine favour, Nigeria will succeed,” he concluded.
