The Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), Professor Olugbenga Ige, has celebrated the 99th birthday of elder statesman and revered Yoruba leader, Chief (Dr.) Reuben Fasoranti, describing his life as a shining example of moral integrity, visionary leadership, and selfless service to humanity.

Prof. Ige delivered a goodwill message titled “Lessons from the Life and Times of the Living Father of the Yoruba Nation” during a public service lecture organized by the Ondo State Chapter of the University of Ibadan Alumni Association in honour of Chief Fasoranti over the weekend.

Reflecting on the nonagenarian’s remarkable journey, Prof. Ige noted that although Chief Fasoranti’s beginnings were humble, his unwavering commitment to discipline, justice, community development, and moral uprightness elevated him to national prominence.

He attributed the statesman's longevity and grace to divine favour, a disciplined lifestyle, a spirit of contentment, healthy living, and an intentional avoidance of harmful habits. 

“Chief Fasoranti’s professionalism, humility, and positive outlook on life have anchored him through the decades and continue to inspire generations,” he said.

The Vice Chancellor offered heartfelt prayers for continued strength, peace, and fulfillment for the elder statesman as he approaches the centennial mark, expressing hope that his legacy would continue to guide future leaders.

The celebratory lecture drew notable figures from across the nation, including the Governor of Ondo State, Hon. (Dr.) Lucky Aiyedatiwa; Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel, a former Ogun State Governor and guest lecturer; former Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko; keynote speaker, Professor Dipo Adamolekun; elder statesman, Basorun Seinde Arogbofa; the Olowo of Owo and Chairman of the Ondo State Council of Traditional Rulers, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye III; and the Deji of Akure, Oba (Dr.) Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Odundun II.

Other dignitaries included Professor Williams Aderounmu; the Archbishop of Ondo Ecclesiastical Province, Most Revd. Simeon Borokini; Worldwide President of the UI Alumni Association, Surveyor Thomas Dabiri; and Ondo Branch Chairman of the association, Mr. Yinka Akinola, among others.
