Tensions have escalated between suspended Nigerian Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and US-based activist, Dr. Sandra Duru, also known as Professor Mgbeke, over allegations that the Kogi Central lawmaker sought to blackmail Senate President Godswill Akpabio with fabricated claims of sexual harassment and organ harvesting.

In a dramatic Facebook Live broadcast on May 1, 2025, Dr. Duru accused the suspended senator of offering her ¦ 200 million to falsely accuse Akpabio of organ harvesting and to link him to the death of a young girl.

Mgbeke claimed to possess recorded conversations where Akpoti-Uduaghan admitted there was no evidence of sexual harassment but still offered money to implicate Akpabio in a false organ harvesting case. “She linked him to the death of a young girl who died a few years ago,” Mgbeke revealed during the one-hour session.

Professor Mgbeke further accused Akpoti-Uduaghan of trying to manipulate a political agenda against the Senate President, alleging that the senator’s goal was to destabilise the Nigerian government. “She told me this wasn’t about Akpabio, but about the Nigerian President. They don’t want the ‘Yoruba government’ to last beyond four years,” Mgbeke said.

Mgbeke also described Natasha as “on a mission to destroy men” and “disgracing Nigerians,” labelling her as lacking humility and moral values. The activist claims that Akpoti-Uduaghan even implied she would be promised the governorship of Kogi State or a ministerial position in return for helping bring down Akpabio.

Dr. Duru also shared phone logs and messages contradicting Natasha’s claim that she had never spoken to her, asserting that the senator attempted to cover up the situation once it became clear the sexual harassment allegations could not be substantiated.

Mgbeke also addressed the 2021 death of Iniubong Umoren, saying Akpoti-Uduaghan had remained silent about any knowledge she might have had regarding the incident, despite allegedly possessing information about the case. “Umoren died in 2021, and there was no organ harvesting,” Mgbeke confirmed. “Natasha must explain what she knows about the death of this young girl.”

In response, Akpoti-Uduaghan dismissed the allegations as false. She said the content of Duru’s livestream was fabricated and manipulated to serve Akpabio’s interests. “I will respond to the baseless claims in due course,” she stated in a press release.

Both parties are currently involved in legal proceedings over the matter, with Mgbeke confirming that she has forwarded all evidence to international security agencies, including the Nigerian Police and the Inter-Parliamentary Union, for further investigation.
